~ My Second
Joy ~
Near her own sleeping place in her house, she made me a special sleeping place with a soft bottom and sides covered in really cushy flannel, a sand box, and a bunch of toys made out of things she found around the house. Then we had a problem. She put out some food for me but I didn’t know how to eat! My belly was as big as a grapefruit because I was starving, and I was really, really hungry. I had been abandoned so soon after I was born that I was somewhere between knowing how to suckle and knowing how to lap, so sucking a little bottle didn’t work, and lapping my food didn’t work either. So you know what my Mom did? She made me some Pablum and got down on her hands and knees and hunkered over me and my dish like a mother cat and touched the Pablum to my mouth with her finger, making sweet noises to me all the time. After that it didn’t take long for me to learn how to lap my food. And food became my second joy. Boy oh boy did I love to eat! All those sweet noises she made while I was eating is where my name came from, and then it turned into a song all about me! If you want to hear it, it goes like this (my Mom’s a musician and knows how to make really good songs):
Sugar Pie-Pie VERSE (This is the soft and sweet part. After all, my name is Sugar.)
CHORUS (This part really rocks):
(You can repeat the song as many times as you want but this is the way it ends:)
Yes, my name is Sugar, AKA Sugar Pie. And don’t you guys out there be getting all into a macho snit — I earned that name, and I’m here to tell you why. Just be patient. It’s coming (if you haven’t already figured it out).
