Sugar Pie’s ~ The First Great Teaching ~ LOVE
The thing I taught my Mom was Love — pure, clean, uncluttered Love. My Mom was always kind to me, and genuine kindness can only come from a loving heart. My Mom has a loving heart, and I have a loving heart, too. She loved loving but she didn’t like all the clutter and pain that so often goes with it. But she loved me and she loved that I loved her. So we had it going both ways in a really mellow way. She learned that from me. Everyone has a loving heart, Sugar. Don’t you think? Yeah, but not all love is uncluttered and there’s the rub. Humans get mentally involved in everything, including, and maybe even especially love, so their relationships get into a mess really fast. Unlike humans, cats have so many instincts they don’t have much of a chance to get mental about things like that. Some dude who‘s hanging out in a cat body may have what Mom calls “the power of choice” but it’s a moot point. All the instincts tend to upstage everything else and the ability to get mental is overpowered by the instincts. This is a situation in which limitations can be an advantage (now there’s an idea!). I don’t have to think about love, I just love. No mental involvement, just love. Period. My Mom learned this from me. My Mom didn’t have to be any certain way for me to love her, and I didn’t have to be any certain way for her to love me. It was uncluttered and uncomplicated. It was just pure love. Now, anyone who says to you that cats aren’t capable of love is missing a marble; maybe a whole bunch of marbles. Cats, and other critters, too, can and do love. It’s really easy for them. It’s harder for humans because of all the mental stuff that gets wrapped around their ideas and their emotional reactions. Let me be clear here. Love is not an emotion. It can be emotional in its expression, but it is not of itself, an emotion. It’s just one way (probably the best one) “the really smart stuff” expresses between Beings. The problems come when Beings (especially humans) get in the way of Its doing Its own natural thing.
